Mission of the Ministry
The Calling to Faith Word
In the Summer of 2001, I heard a very audible calling from God.
Starting in September 2000, I had started a wonderful job with a marvelous group of people. My supervisor was without a doubt the nicest, smartest person under whom I had worked. I was making more income than ever before. Everything seemed just wonderful!
Then in February 2001 there came the announcement that the firm was going to have to declare bankruptcy. What a shock! For some time, many of us continued on thinking that all would work out well in the end. But it did not change. In May 2002, I walked out the door without a job. And that was just the start.
How sad, you might be thinking. In self pity, it was.
Then one day in the Summer of 2001, the Lord said to me, “I want you to use the internet to spread My Word and to help people know about the work of others in My name.”
I asked how? Just like Moses when at the burning bush, I gave a large number of excuses; but the Lord would not let me get off that easy. He said, “You have always said that technology should be used for good and not just a means of spreading evil. Prove it.”
From the calling, Faith Word was born. A website was immediately established with an email address. Then soon thereafter we developed the group site so that devotional materials could be broadcast for free use and the work and needs of others could be known.
Now, we communicate with ministries and missions in every area of the world (Just this year, our number of contact ministries have risen from under 160 to nearly 3,800 and is still growing.). By the power of the Lord, we have seen terminal illnesses totally healed when such healing is not even possible within medical science. Groups, that have refused hearing about the Lord, are now participating in worship services and are even now ministering. Where terrorism and oppression still exists, ministries are winning souls – even persons who have been terrorists. Debts have been erased. All of these things, and much more, are to the glory of the Lord.
As most of you know, we have been under attack from Satan just like many of you. Due to corporate politics, I was let go again from a successful job in 2010 and my wife has been attacked by blood clots; but she is doing better. At the original writing of this piece in 2005, my wife was in a horrific auto accident. In what should have been a deadly accident, Evelyn was safeguarded by angels and was able to walk that same day from out of the hospital. Praise God!
Are we at Faith Word where we are supposed to be? Are we ready to sit down and be smug? No!
As Paul said in the book of Colossians, Chapter 2:
1. For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and [for] them at Laodicea, and [for] as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
We were called by the Lord to help in love as one family under God and Jesus. To His glory and according to His direction, we have only begun.
